Allen and Lior first met in the winter of 2009 during one of Allen's shows in Los Angeles where he was promoting the release of his first LP, Last to Speak. Lior was blown away with Allen's talent both in songwriting and vocal ability, extending an offer to Allen to make a record together.

Over the next few months, while Allen was on the road, the two demo'd three songs, each of which paved the way to Allen's self titled sophomore release, "Allen Stone". Lior brought to the table not only his experience, but also an incredible assortment of phenomenal musicians. Better known as Raphael Saadiq's band, the rhythm section for this album includes Josh Smith on guitar, Calvin Turner on bass, and Lemar Carter on Drums. Deron Johnson, best known for his work with the legendary Miles Davis, rounded things off on keys in ways that he alone is capable of.

Horn arrangements for this record were done by Lior and Lee Thornburg of 'Tower of Power' fame.

The record was released on October 4th, 2011 garnering both commercial success and critical acclaim. In addition to the album, singles, and B-sides playlist to your left, Allen's mind blowing October 26th performance on Conan can be viewed above and a recent interview and performance with Seattle's KEXP can be viewed inline below.

Later today (12/03/11) we'll be posting some never-before-seen outtakes filmed during the albums recording as well as a photo album with Allen and all of the players from the record which were taken onsite at "The Space", Lior's private studio in West Hills, CA, where this album was recorded.
